On September 13, 2023, the Aquaculture Contact Forum – a joint effort by Samsun CCI, Middle Black Seas Development Agency, Octo Aqua, Norwegian Aquaculture Cluster (NAC) and EAST CCI of Norway – took place in Samsun City.
This successful gatering of representatives from two prominent aquaculture nations instigated an opportuinity to exchange experiences, conduct B2B meetings, visit aquaculture sites in the Black Sea and discuss plans for significant growth.

Amongst the Norwegian guest speakers were companies like ScaleAQ, Mørenot, Optimar, Aqua Iceberg, Green Iceberg, Noras Group, Eksfin and the Managing Director of EAST CCI
Discussions included the importance of flexible mooring systems and pens, fish welfare, feeding systems, new software, and the use of robust steel cages for aquaculture. Sustainability was of course high on hte agenda, including the need to extend product lifecycles and transition to circular models for better resource utilization and climate preservation.
NAC companies were showcasing their technologies and solutions for the aquaculture industry. The potential for growth in fish production was discussed, along with the importance of utilizing the entire fish, including waste products for mainly human consumption.
Eksfin of Norway and local EximBank explained the international banks role in providing financial support for export, and the need for local investment loans for aquaculture projects were discussed. Interest rates and eligibility criteria were also touched upon.
All the industrial sized Black Sea region aquaculture farmers participated in the event, presenting their production locations, capacities, and species focus on stage and during B2B meetings. They shared their diverse needs related to aquaculture equipment and systems.
