On 15-17 of March, the Norwegian Aquaculture Cluster (NAC), the EAST Office of Norway, and the Norwegian Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce (NLCC) arranging Market Visit to Klaipeda .
The first visit was made to NORAS Group. The NORAS GROUP shared lessons learned “for NAC members and partners only”. Probalby not many land-based farms can show impressive less than 1 % mortality within the production chain from hatcheries and juvenile stage till 4 kg farmed fish stage. This visit was of highest relevance for NAC members with valuable discussions. Later, the NAC invited all to the working dinner with 15 guests from Latvia, Lithuania, and Norway related to the aquaculture sector.

On March 16, the NAC Workshop was organised at the Klaipeda University.
Market update about aquacultural potential in Lithuania was given by Loreta Bražinskaitė, Advisor at Fisheries Unit, Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania. Greta Tautavičiūtė from the association “Klaipeda Region” introduced to audience Klaipeda region for aquaculture and blue bioeconomy development.
A brief about cooperation between aquaculture farmers and academia was given by Nerijus Nika, Head of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Laboratory at the Klaipeda University.
In addition, company presentations were given by CEA Farm, Ofeedo, Lavango, Sirputis, Žuvita, Klaipeda ID, ECUNOR, CEA Farm, and Jutland Group.
After the Workshop the group had two on-site visits: Espersen – a world leading white fish processor, and the Klaipeda Free Economic Zone (FEZ). By the end of the day, all were invited to a working dinner.
