While Türkiye maintains its global leadership in sea bass and sea bream production, all eyes are now on Turkish salmon. Raised in the unique conditions of the Black Sea, this special species is actually a premium variety of rainbow trout known internationally as “steelhead trout.” With its high omega-3 content, rich protein levels, and exceptional flavor, Turkish salmon is making its way to tables in more than 50 countries.

Its journey begins in freshwater lakes; once the fish reach around 500 grams, they are transferred to sea cages. Here, they grow to 2–3 kilograms before being carefully harvested in May and June, just before seawater temperatures exceed 23°C. This process ensures a product with outstanding taste and texture.

Sustainable production and environmental respect are at the heart of Turkish salmon farming. Every fish is utilized 100%, with zero-waste principles applied throughout the production process. Thanks to internationally recognized quality certifications, Turkish salmon is trusted across a wide geography.

Today, with an annual production of 100,000 tons and exports worth 500 million USD, Turkish salmon is on a steady course toward its ambitious 1 billion USD export target. Born in the cool waters of the Black Sea, this unique flavor continues to be a source of pride for Türkiye.
